The Australian Heritage Festival (Victoria) is an annual statewide event celebrating Victoria’s diverse and vibrant heritage.

Held from the 18 April to 18 May each year, the Heritage Festival explores the state’s places and spaces, stories, collections and ideas that make us who we are.

One of Victoria’s largest open-access community events, the Heritage Festival program features hundreds of events ranging from talks to tours, walks to workshops and exhibitions to special events.

There are so many events to choose from in Castlemaine, Maldon and Surrounds, with something for curious minds of all ages.

The 2026 Festival theme is Change, asking how history has changed us—and how are we changing history? History isn’t static—it’s a living force that continuously shapes our present and future.
