Maldon-Athenaeum-Building.jpg

Meet an outstanding local historian and academic, Dr Marjorie Theobald, and hear the story of the women who were essential to the fabric of the Victorian goldfields.

Based on her recent publication “Keeping An Orderly Tent: Women on the Goldfields of Central Victoria", Dr Theobald’s talk will explore the shadow history of the goldfields: the domestic and public lives of women in areas like Maldon, Castlemaine and Chewton who transformed these mining camps into permanent communities.

Entry is by gold coin donation, with all money used to support this community library.
